Student Clubs
We place a high value on the sense of community among AGSM students. Students lead a variety of industry-aligned Clubs, as well as an active Student Society; all of which organise a good number of formal and informal events.
Student Society
The mission statement of the Student Society is:
"To encourage the development of life-long ties for students whilst creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment."
The role of the Student Society is to make the AGSM MBA Programs student experience as positive and fulfilling as possible. They also provide students with a platform to recommend enhancements and to address their concerns in relation to their studies and the school environment in general. The Student Society has representatives who deal with all facets of student life.
In order to facilitate communication between students and faculty, the Student Society meets regularly with the Director and the Dean.
All students are encouraged to get involved in the Student Society.

Business in Asia (formerly Asian Business Club)
The AGSM MBA Programs Asian Society aims to be a connector between the community and Asia, as well as a platform for people from this region, or any other region in the world, to participate in the tremendous opportunities Asia offers.
The world’s economic centre is shifting to Asia. We seek to assist the community to benefit from this profound change by organising events to learn more about the unique but diverse cultures and people of Asia.
The Asian Society will foster strong interaction between the students from the AGSM Programs in both Sydney and Hong Kong campuses to develop unique networking, learning and business opportunities.
We are planning to organise a fieldtrip to China or India with the intention of exploring and absorbing cultures; meeting local students, entrepreneurs, business leaders and politicians; and to get a first hand understanding of these countries and benefit from their amazing future development.

Consulting Club
The AGSM Consulting Club is one of the largest student run clubs at AGSM. It provides students interested in a consulting career with information about the industry and consulting firms in Australia. The Club works with our alumni in consulting firms to provide opportunities and resources for its members to gain successful entry into management consulting careers. In addition, the Club partners with the Career Services office to provide our members with a competitive advantage in the rigorous recruitment process by way of organizing alumni roundtable discussions and case workshops. Further, we make available resources like the online Case Library and arrange for mock interviews closer to 'Careers Week'.

CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Club
The AGSM MBA Programs CSR Club has two purposes. The first is to increase awareness and knowledge of corporate social responsibility within the AGSM MBA programs through a series of guest speaker events. The second is to utilise the reputation and the skills of the AGSM MBA Programs community network for the benefit of the society. To this end, the AGSM MBA Programs CSR Club will create partnerships between the school and charitable organisations that make us an active part of the community. Through these partnerships, the AGSM MBA Programs CSR Club will also seek to create opportunities for students to volunteer on management projects with charities and not-for-profit organizations.
The AGSM MBA Programs CSR Club has taken over the role of the Benevolent Society and will continue two important annual events that raise funds for charity:
· Trivia competition
· City to Surf fun run (August 10)
A proposed new venture is to begin an AGSM charter of Net Impact (www.netimpact.org), a global network of more than 10,000 MBAs, graduate students and young professionals whose mission is to “improve the world by growing and strengthening a network of leaders who use the power of business to make a positive net social, environmental, and economic impact."

WIM achieves this through hosting high profile Australian business women in a guest speaking series throughout the year. Other activities include functions with other business women organizations, a mentoring program, and social events. The guest speaking events are open to all MBA and EMBA students as well as alumni of AGSM MBA Programs.

Marketing Club (merged with FMCG)
The Marketing Club aims to open doors for students who are exploring possibilities of a career in Marketing. It seeks to do this by giving them EXPOSURE to leading marketing professionals from a wide range of industries and experts in the field of marketing through speaking engagements and ties with the Australian Marketing Institute.
The Marketing Club also enriches the AGSM MBA Programs experience for its members by allowing them to EXPERIENCE core Marketing activities through workshops involving the AGSM MBA Programs Brand, exercises like “The Annual Landor Competition on the Future of Brands”, participation in Market Researches and Product Launches, and active contribution in Marketing publications.
The FMCG Club has two main objectives:
1) To increase the exposure of the AGSM MBA Programs community to recent trends within consumer focused industries, including Retail.
2) To provide students with opportunities to explore the range of roles available with FMCG organisations; and increase contact between students and companies in the sector.
The first of these objectives will be fulfilled with events throughout the year featuring keynote speakers. Subject areas under consideration for 2008 are as follows:
- Private Label and its future in the Australian market
- Supply chain innovation and technology
- Asia: supplier strategy and expansion opportunity
To meet the club’s second objective it is intended to run a series of breakfast meetings with managers in the sector. We are also exploring opportunities to undertake a number of site visits during the year.
The FMCG club recognises that the issues impacting the sector cut across a wide range of business issues. The intention for 2008 is therefore to work collaboratively with other AGSM MBA Programs clubs wherever possible in order to share costs and learning experience.
