Supply Chain Management - The Power to Build and Destroy Companies

Speaker:

  • Gal Raz

In an ideal world, Supply Chain Management (SCM) enables companies to integrate the management of all players in the supply chain – customers, distributors, suppliers and manufacturers. Reality though is that despite significant investments, SCM continues to represent 50%-60% of total business costs, and it continues to fall short on its promises with companies struggling to succeed in managing their supply chains effectively.

Why is this? Where do companies go wrong? Supply Chain Management is important to everyone, not just the procurement department, and a key factor which is often overlooked is that of supplier relationship management ….. in other words are you in control of your supplier or are they in control of you?Dr Gal Raz from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) will lead a panel discussion in these areas, calling on research and providing his perspective on these trends and how Supply Chain value can really be unlocked whilst finding those ‘missing links’.

Dr Raz is a Lecturer in Operations Management with his primary research focusing on Pricing and Supply Chain Management, Supply Chain Contracts, Public Policy Implications of Operations Management and Health Care Management. He has experience across a range of both service and manufacturing industries including Financial Services, computer software and Medical Technology.
