Strategic Transformation - The Challenge of Changing Business Models

16 November 2005

Speaker:

    • George Yip

To achieve long-term success, competitive advantage and value adding capacity, business models must change. How, when, why, are the questions posed for managers of strategy. Very little is known about transformational strategies and how they are managed over long periods of time. Most studies of strategy have focused on routine strategies and the strategic management of existing business models.

The seminar provided an overview of a global project funded by the Advanced Institute of Management initiative in the UK and being conducted by Professors George Yip, Timothy Devinney and Gerry Johnson and their team. This project examines new methods for measuring benchmark performance and relating to specific strategic actions undertaken by exceptionally performing organisations.

George Yip is Professor of Strategic and International Management at London Business School and Lead Senior Fellow of the Advanced Institute of Management Research, which is the U.K.’s research initiative on management, and a Fellow of the Academy of International Business.
