The Significance of Intellectual Property and its Management in Australian Organisations: A panel discussion of business leaders

April 2004

Speakers:

  • Adam Liberman, Freehills
  • Prof. Timothy Devinney, Director, Centre for Corporate Change - AGSM
Has Intellectual Property (IP) received proper consideration by Australian board's and managers in formulating business strategy? Research conducted by CCC and Freehills in what is Australian's first survey on the role of IP in corporate Australia, has found that Australian organisations actually risk being left behind the rest of the world in this increasingly important area.

This symposium will consider Australia's position in the world IP landscape, discuss case studies of successful IP management and look at some of the significant issues relating to IP as relevant to the Australian business environment. Instead of looking at IP as merely an apparatus for legal redress, or subject matter for compliance, this symposium will challenge you to consider IP as an important tool in managing business.

Panelists:
  • Peter Bobeff, Senior VP Commercial Affairs, Fosters Group
  • Dr. Jim Fox, CEO, Vision Systems
  • Rob Muir, Director of Business Development, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO)
  • Geoff Warner, Vice President Technology, Bluescope Steel
  • Stuart Wardman Browne, Partner, Castle Harlan Australian Mezzanine Partners
