Venture Capital & Private Equity: Boom or Bust?

4 November 2004

In conjunction with the Australian Graduate School of Management and Melbourne Business School

Speaker:
Professor Josh Lerner, Jacob H. Schiff Professor of Investment Banking, Harvard Business School

Professor Lerner has a joint appointment in the Finance and the Entrepreneurial Management Units of Harvard Business School. His research focuses on the structure of venture capital organizations, and their role in transforming scientific discoveries into commercial products. His research also examines the impact of intellectual property protection, particularly patents, on the competitive strategies of firms in high-technology industries.

This presentation looks at the cyclical nature of the venture capital markets and the various drivers that determine its overall behaviour. More importantly, it looks at the effects that this behaviour has on you and your business both now and into the future.
