AGSM Alumni Conference: “Competing on the Global Stage"
November 2002
The Alumni Board, Life Long Learning, and the Centre for Corporate Change hosted the AGSM's first ever Alumni Conference in November 2002.
The purpose of the conference was to create a learning program that was fascinating and stimulating. Rather than a "refresher" of already learned material, the conference explored current trends and issues across the globe and at home that are impacting managers and their organisations. Presenters included AGSM faculty, visiting academics and several well-respected, experienced senior practitioners in the business community from Australia and overseas.
The Centre for Corporate Change and Booz Allen Hamilton presented a video interview of R James Woolsey, Head of Global Strategic Security, Booz Allen and Hamilton USA. Mr Woolsey, a former Head of the CIA, discussed some of the possible impacts of terrorism on global businesses. The discussion panel that followed featured Ian Buchanan (Chairman Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia, Booz Allen Hamilton) who provided some insights specific to the Asia Pacific region. Ian has lived in South East Asia for over 30 years and was recently involved in the Australian Homeland Security Conference, held in Canberra.
