Leading Clever People
29 February 2008
Acclaimed organisational behaviour expert Professor Rob Goffee will discuss the latest in how to manage clever people when he speaks at the launch of AGSM Executive Programs 2008 in Sydney today. Professor Goffee, from London Business School, was recently rated by The Times (UK) as one of the world’s top 50 management visionaries.
Professor Goffee, a visiting academic at the Australian School of Business until April 2008, will explore the intricacies of managing clever people, who he says, know their worth, have a low boredom threshold, and are unwilling to recognise leadership by thanking their bosses.
They can also be difficult to manage, and leaders should therefore be aware of the characteristics and traits possessed by their star recruits and workers, says Professor Goffee.
2008 will bring around a raft of exciting new changes to AGSM Executive Programs, including the refurbishment of its Sydney CBD campus, said Executive Director and Conjoint Professor Rosemary Howard.
“This year is already shaping up to be one of the most challenging years for business leaders, and our constant aim is to cater to the changing management needs and capabilities of senior executives through our delivery of world class custom executive education.
“Clear direction, strategic planning and investment in quality staff have never been so important,” she added.
Professor Fred Hilmer, Vice-Chancellor of the University of New South Wales, will also speak at the launch event.
