Admission Process
The admission process is designed to ensure you can demonstrate:
- The academic ability to complete a rigorous postgraduate program successfully.
- The motivation to undertake demanding part-time study while working.
- Current and previous management experience relevant to theory and program content.
MBA (Executive) Applications
Applications for Session 1 2009 have been extended to Monday 1 December 2008. Online applications must be submitted with all required documentation by this date, in order to be considered for session 1 intake.

Admissions Policy
Before applying, all candidates are advised to read the AGSM MBA Admissions Policy for part-time programs.
Entry Requirements
Applications are invited from candidates who have both an undergraduate degree and two or more years management experience, or non-degree candidates with six or more years management experience. The entry requirements for candidates are:
With an undergraduate degree
- Completed online application form, comprising
- Four personal statements
- Two online referee reports
- Undergraduate degree, comparable to the educational level of an Australian Bachelor degree, certified copies of complete academic transcripts and award to be provided
- Detailed CV
- Photo Identification
- Minimum of two years management/professional experience
- Currently employed in a management capacity
- Minimum English language requirements
Without an undergraduate degree
- Completed online application form, comprising
- Four personal statements
- Two online referee reports
- Detailed CV
- Photo Identification
- Minimum of six years management/professional experience
- Currently employed in a management capacity
- Minimum English language requirements
Undergraduate degree
If you have an undergraduate degree you must provide an original or certified official copy of academic transcripts of all undergraduate and postgraduate study. Photocopies of academic transcripts are not accepted.
Referee's reports
The two referee reports, contained within the online application, are designed to help the Admissions Committee review your management strengths and weaknesses. Your referee reports must be completed by current or recent employers. If you are self-employed and have no previous employer to complete the reports we suggest you provide a referee's report from a business associate, client or supplier of long standing. You may also submit a referee's report from an academic at your previous institute of study, if applicable.
Personal statement
The four personal statements, contained within the online application, are designed to help the Admissions Committee learn more about you and your motivations for undertaking the program.
Detailed CV
All applicants must submit a copy of their CV that covers their roles and responsibilities in detail.
Managerial or professional experience
If you have an undergraduate degree you are required to have a minimum of two years managerial or appropriate professional experience. If you don't have an undergraduate degree then you will need a minimum of six years managerial/professional experience. Either way, you are required to be currently employed in a managerial or appropriate professional capacity.
English language requirements
If your first language is not English and if your undergraduate degree was not at an English speaking university you are required to achieve the following results in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
- IELTS: 6.5 with a 6 in each sub-test (Academic test, not General)
- TOEFL computer-based test: 233 with an essay rating of 5.0
- TOEFL paper-based test: 577 with TWE rating of 5
- TOEFL Internet-based test: 90
A certified copy of the IELTS or TOEFL results must be submitted with the application form.
Please note that IELTS or TOEFL results must be from within the last two years.
Proof of Identity
All applicants must provide certified proof of identity with their applications. Proof of identity is defined as photo identification showing your photo and legally recognised full name. Appropriate documentation is one of the following:
Australian Citizens can provide either photo page of passport or copy of drivers licence;
Australian Permanent Residents and Other Visa Holders must provide the photo page of passport and copy of Visa.
Eligibility for exemptions
If you have undertaken postgraduate management studies (of no more than five years standing) with other tertiary institutions or recognised professional associations, such as
- Australian Society of Chartered Practising Accountants (ASCPA)
- The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA)
- Securities Institute of Australia (FINSIA)
you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) from GDM course/s.
Successful applicants can submit an application for RPL after they have received an offer for the Program.

Single Course Application for Enrolment
(application for Non-Award, MLM, and Cross-Institutional enrolments)
Please download the single course application form here.
Candidates interested in undertaking a single course for non-award or cross institutional purposes should complete a Single Course Application and submit by the relevant session application deadline. Applications for Session 1 2009 close on Monday 1 December. The entire form (application, enrolment and statistics forms) must be completed and submitted by post - faxes and scanned copies are not acceptable.
Please also note the following:
- Candidates interested in Non Award study can only take a maximum of 2 courses. After this, a full application for the MBA (Executive) Program must be submitted.
- Successful completion of a non-award course does not guarantee an offer for the MBA (Executive) Program will be made. Entry requirements must be met in full at the time of applying.
- Non Award students who are offered a place in the MBA (Executive) Program will be credited for the non award study completed, as long as the non-award course/s were completed within 5 years of the MBA (Executive) Program application.
- Cross Institutional students must seek approval from their home institution before submitting an application, and provide evidence of such.
