Admission Process

Application Deadlines
We make offers on a rolling basis so applications may be submitted at any time during the year. Early applications are strongly encouraged. International students should take into account visa processing times. The Selection Committee makes final decisions on complete applications within four weeks of submission.

First round applications for our January 2009 intake will be accepted until Monday, 1 September 2008. International students are encouraged to apply by this deadline.

Second round applications for our January 2009 intake will be accepted until Wednesday, 15 October 2008. Second round applicants should note that places are limited and there is no guarantee that places will be available by the time they submit their application, and a waitlist option may be offered.

Entry Requirements
Before applying, interested candidates should satisfy the Entry Requirements, and note that meeting the entry requirements does not guarantee an offer will be made. The AGSM MBA Program is capped at 60 students each year, so the competition is fierce. To be successful candidates need to not only meet the entry requirements, but also demonstrate excellence across the entire application.

Application Process
The application process may differ slightly for each applicant, but will generally look like this:

1. Complete and submit online application before deadline.
2. Submit all required supporting documentation to Admissions Office.
3. Application is sent to Selection Committee for review.
4. Applicant may be contacted to organise one or two admissions interviews (this may be over the phone or in person).
5. Applicant is advised of the outcome of their application by email.
6. Applicant is mailed a comprehensive Offer Pack.
7. Applicant returns their decision within six weeks of Offer.

Points 3 to 5 of this process can take up to four weeks.

You can apply for the MBA program online through the AGSM Information Centre. You will need to be a member of the AGSM Information Centre before you can access the application form.

Incoming International Students
Some students may require a ‘pre-visa assessment’, which can result in the visa process taking up to six months. It is essential that you contact your local Australian Consulate to find out your visa requirements.

Students are strongly advised to submit visa applications prior to the program application deadline in order to allow sufficient time for visa processing requirements.

Please note that International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a necessary part of most international student visa processes. To check if you need to supply an IELTS result as part of your visa, please contact the Australian Consulate in your country or refer to the website: www.immi.gov.au.

Cross Institutional Applicants
Students who are currently from other Australian institutions may undertake courses from the AGSM MBA program for credit towards a graduate award. In order to apply for cross-institutional enrolment, a student must submit written confirmation from his or her home institution that the course will be credited towards a graduate award.

Elective Phase Transfer Students
Students from the Graduate Diploma in Management (GDM) in Australia and GDM Hong Kong Program may transfer into the elective phase of the full-time MBA in Sydney to complete their studies.
