Australian Development Scholarship (ADS)
Australian Development Scholarships Scheme (ADS) is part of the development aid program of the Australian Agency for International Development. The objective of the program is to promote human resource development through opportunities provided by training in Australia. The scholarship covers payment of course fees, a living allowance and travel costs.

The home government determines many of the eligibility requirements. Students wishing to apply should write to the Australian Embassy or Consulate in their home country requesting an application form and including information about previous and proposed study. Application forms are not available from the University.

Rotary Foundation Graduate Fellowships

Rotary Fellowships are open to people between 18 and 30 holding a bachelor's degree or equivalent, seeking to study in any discipline. Fellowships cover transport, educational, living and miscellaneous related expenses. They are tenable for one year in any country in which there are Rotary clubs.

Preference is given to candidates who apply for study in countries where the language is different from their own. Applications generally close in mid-July for tenure the following year, but some Rotary clubs may have deadlines as early as March.

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association Scholarship

This scholarship is provided to encourage the participation of gay men and lesbians in business and management careers. The scholarship has an approximate value of AUD$1,500 pa. Applicants must be gay or lesbian. Applications are available from the Scholarships and Student Loans Unit (c/-New South Q, Lower Ground Floor, Chancellery). Website:

Gowrie Scholarship Trust Fund

Applicants must be members of the Defence Forces or children (or grandchildren or lineal descendants) of members of the Forces who were on active service during the 1939–1945 War. Scholarships for women

Australian Federation of University Women Fellowships, Scholarships and Bursaries (AFUW) website:

For over 75 years members of the Australian Federation of University Women (AFUW) have raised funds to assist women in tertiary education: approximately AUD$190,000 is now awarded annually to Australian and overseas students by AFUW. Funds are generated through the hire of academic regalia, degree framing and by generous donations and bequests. Fellowships, bursaries and scholarships are administered by Trustees of AFUW Education Trust Funds in both National and State/Territory Associations.

A Fellowships & Awards booklet published by AFUW Inc outlines the fellowships and bursaries available through AFUW and its State/Territory Associations as well as those administered by the International Federation of University Women (IFUW) and the American Association of University Women (AAUW). This booklet can be downloaded from the AFUW site in RTF format or is available from the AFUW National Office.

Please note that the value of fellowships and bursaries may very from year to year at the discretion of the Trustees.
