Judi MacCormick
Profile summary
Judi has extensive experience in the corporate sector, in business entrepreneurship, and within academia. She has lived and worked in Australia, Europe and Asia in senior management positions in banking and global consulting firms, consulting to both the private and public sectors, as well as establishing and running a successful restaurant business. Specialising in corporate strategy and responsible for designing and overseeing the implementation of major change programmes in countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and New Zealand, Judi has gained considerable cross-cultural and cross-industry experience. Her clients have included Glaxo (Asia), Westin Hotels (Singapore), Bank Tiara (Indonesia), Telecom Australia, Cathay Pacific, Permodalan National Berhad (Malaysia), Caltex, National Productivity Board (Singapore), Queensland Treasury, Trust Bank Waikato (NZ), Kraft Foods, AGL.
As a post-doctoral fellow, in addition to teaching on the MBA (Executive) course, Judi’s current research interests include investigating the relationship between culture and organisational performance, as well as and the impact of BlackBerry technology on work/life balance. These interests have led to invitations to present papers at the US Academy of Management in New Orleans (2004), Hawaii (2005) and Philadelphia (2007), as well as the European Group for Organizational Studies, Vienna (2007).
Qualifications
Judi was awarded her PhD by AGSM, University of Sydney and New South Wales in 2006, with a thesis that investigated the relationship between organisational climates and organisational effectiveness, based on a world-wide survey of over 50,000 people from 6,200 business units. In 2000 she was awarded an MBA (Exec) from AGSM, achieving awards for the most outstanding participant in the MBA, best performer in strategic management, most consistent high-level performer, and the graduate who best demonstrates the capabilities of corporate leadership and management. In her MBA and PhD studies she was she was also awarded a Sasakawa Youth Leadership Fellowship and was selected to represent Australia at the SYLFF biannual meeting in Oregon, USA (2005).
Judi also holds a B.A. (Social Science), Grad Dip Science (ANU), is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a member of the St James Ethics Centre.
Judi is married with three children, a golden retriever, 6 fish and 2 birds, loves to ski, go to the ballet and would like to have excuses to avoid her fitness trainer.
