Anya Johnson
Profile summary
Anya is a Senior Research Fellow at the Australian School of Business, University of New South Wales. She is currently working on an Australian Research Council Linkage project in collaboration with several large public hospitals. Previously Anya was a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Chester, UK and worked as an Occupational Psychologist and consultant for an international Career Transition consultancy, Drake Beam Morin in Hong Kong and a Human Resource Consultancy, TCA, in the UK.
Anya’s research interests include workforce churning and the effect of unemployment on managers and their families. More recently she has been working in the area of pro-activity, voice, job design and emotional labour. Her research with health care workers has explored the impact of job design changes on junior doctors using a quasi experimental design, longitudinal research into proactive performance and well being in nurses, and multi disciplinary team performance across the hospital workforce.
Anya grew up in PNG and has lived and worked in Hong Kong, the UK and the USA, before settling for Sydney. She is married and has 3 children and a dog.
Qualifications
Anya is a registered Organisational Psychologist (NSW) and a Chartered Occupational Psychologist (UK). She holds an MSc (1994, distinction) in Occupational Psychology from the Institute of Work Psychology, University of Sheffield, UK and a PhD (2007) from Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK.
