Ian Gomm


Profile summary
Ian has worked in the tertiary sector for over 25 years. A statistician by training he has acted as a consultant to many companies, helping them analyse the data they have collected over that time. Areas of interest and expertise are analysing multivariate data sets, data mining, using data to improve decision making and making statistics understandable to non-statisticians.

A secondary teacher before moving into the tertiary sector, Ian has a real passion for teaching and helping everyone in his classes to share his delight in all matters relating to data analysis.

Ian and his partner never bothered to get married, but they have two delightful children. His interests include travelling, skiing, running, bush walking, rowing and bike riding. He enjoys reading and meeting new people.

Qualifications
Ian has an MSc from The University of Melbourne, a BSc (Hons) and Dip Ed from Monash University.
