Shashanna Evans-Kocinski
Profile summary
Shashanna was born in Toronto, Canada in December, 1948. She attended the University of Toronto where she attained her first Master's degree. On migrating to Australia in 1973 she taught and studied at Queensland University. She was lured away from literature to total immersion in Psychology and subsequently completed a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology at Melbourne University in 1979. She is a registered Clinical Psychologist and a Full Member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is married with 4 children.
She has lectured at Melbourne, Monash and Queensland University and R.M.I.T. For the past ten years she has been an adjunct faculty member of AGSM MBA Programs. At Monash University Law School she designed and conducted the first course in family dynamics for post graduate lawyers. She has also been very involved in Social Welfare, Family and Children's Court Clinics, Psychological Medicine and Private Practice.
For the last 20 years she has been designing and conducting workshops tailored to the needs of Australian industry. She is particularly well known in both the public and private sectors for her books and workshops on Persuasion and Influencing, Leadership, and Conflict Resolution. Further, over the last few years she developed a counselling model suitable to the needs of personnel and line managers. At present her time is apportioned to private practice, the MBA (Executive), CEO mentoring/coaching, writing and conducting workshops for industry. In addition to academic publications she has written two books for the general public. Make Your Mark, a psychological guide to success for young adults, 1985 published by Longman Cheshire is directed towards young adults, in search of basic assertion skills. What it Takes, Personal development Strategies for the Office, 1988, reprinted1990, 1991, 1992 published by Pitman was originally written for young adults but has found a wider following in industry as it simplifies interpersonal and persuasive skills. She also co edited a series of books on Statistics for Melbourne University Press.
Her articles appear regularly in the major newspapers and business magazines and she is often interviewed on Radio and Television. She is a sought after guest speaker and has addressed groups ranging from the Young Presidents' Association to the Fellowship of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
