Dr Chris Roberts: AGSM Global Business Leader

Dr Chris Roberts, Chief Executive Officer, Cochlear Ltd, was conferred the honorary title of AGSM Global Business Leader at the 2006 AGSM Annual Awards Dinner.

The title recognises an individual who has demonstrated exceptional vision and leadership in a global business environment.

“It is indeed an honour to be recognised by such a leading business school as AGSM,” said Dr Roberts.

“To me, the title represents the linkages between business and education. I was taught from a young age that “intelligence is learning from other people’s experience” – there is no need to reinvent the wheel all the time. Life is a long journey of learning, much of it from others.

“An education that develops the mind and provides tools for a range of situations is very useful. Why? Because long-term success in business is about adaptability. In business, whatever your game plan is, it had better change by this time next year as the status quo is never adequate. Having a range of tools in your armamentarium gives you confidence to tackle the difficult and important issues.

“I would like to thank everyone from my teachers throughout life, to my colleagues and the many insightful customers for this honour,” said Dr Roberts.
